Lawsuits Against Online Song Swappers Yield Mixed Results [News.com]
Despite a large number of lawsuits against alleged e-music infringers, it remains unclear whether the recording industry is winning its war against file sharers, News.com reports. On one hand, Nielsen NetRatings has shown a steady decline in people who use the popular Kazaa file-sharing network -- falling from a peak of 7 million per week in June, when the music industry first announced its intention to sue individuals, to just 3.2 million per week in November. On the other hand, Big Champagne, which tracks file-sharing online, found that the number of people on Kazaa's FastTrack network fell somewhat over the summer but grew to an all-time high of 5.6 million simultaneous users in October.
