Sometimes it is better just to call it a day, as CBS will likely have to do with these controversial documents about Bush's service records. It is unlikely anybody will ever be able to prove that they are truely real or fakes, but there are enough questions about them.
That being said, NYT columnist Nicholas Kristof points that out that the real problem is that Bush "still refuses to come clean."

The CBS/Dan Rather docu-drama (or memo-wreck?) rolls on! The papers all report that Rather now admits that some of the memos might be forgeries, but reiterates that the substance of the story is true. Some say Rather's days are numbered; the Post's story reads almost like an obit. Meanwhile, the Post and NYT speculate that the memos in question may have been leaked by retired Texas National Guard officer Bill Burkett, who lives just 21 miles from the Kinko's where one of them was supposedly photocopied.

NEW YORK-Faced with numerous reports that controversial documents about President Bush's Texas Air National Guard service were forgeries, CBS News officials stopped asserting Wednesday that the papers the network had obtained were real, and said they would "redouble" their efforts to resolve the contradictions.
